Wyant with a rebound and bucket to make it 30-24.  3 min left in 2nd.

Johnson with a basket to cut the Midgit lead to 30-26.  

Heidenwith for 3 puts Putnam up 33-26. 2 min left.

Robinson with a 3 for Bernie. Wood answers with an up and under.  Just under a minute left.  Putnam leads 37-32.

Johnson with a bucket right before the horn.  Putnam goes into the locker room up 37-34.

Wood leads Putnam with 10.  Johnson leads Bernie with 11.

3rd Quarter

Fowler with a bucket on a great pass from Wood.  39-34 Putnam.

Fowler picks up foul on the other end.

Johnson with a bucket, but Ream answers.  41-36 Putnam.

Nimmo with a putback to cut Putnam lead to 41-38.  Just under 6 left in 3rd.

Wyant with a drive, bucket and draws a foul.  5:06 left in the 3rd. Wyant misses.  43-38 Putnam.

Fowler with a bucket to make it 45-38.  He picks up his 2nd foul on the other end.  4:28 left.

Robinson hits 1 to make it 45-39.

Powell hits a 3 after a Putnam turnover.  Mules call timeout with 4:08 left in 3rd.  Putnam is up 45-42.

After Putnam miss, Heidenwith picks up foul on the other end.  His 2nd.  Foster hits 2 FTs to make it 45-44 with 3:48 left.

Putnam turnover leads to Johnson bucket and another turnover leads to another Johnson bucket.  Bernie now leads 48-45.  It is a 10-0 run for Bernie.  Putnam calls timeout with 3:15 left.

Wyant with a putback on a miss, but Corzine hits a 3 on the other end.  Bernie is up 51-47.  2:30 left.

Fowler is fouled and hits the basket.  He hits the FT.  2:25 left.  Bernie up 51-50.

Heidenwith cleans up a miss and puts the Midgets back on top 52-51.   Johnson comes back on the other end to score.  Putnam then turns it over and Robinson scores and is fouled by Wyant.  He hits FT to put Bernie up 56-52 with 1:10 left.

Fowler hits a bucket and is fouled with 39.1 left.  His FT is good.  Bernie 56-55.

Heidenwith is fouled with 2.0 sec left.  He hits both to give Putnam a 57-56 lead after 3.

4th Quarter

Bernie with a steal and Foster bucket to go back up 58-57, but Wood answers to put Putnam up 59-58.  Just under 7 left.

Johnson scores for Bernie.  Timeout with 6:25 left.  Bernie leads 60-59.

Nimmo is fouled by Fowler.  That is Fowler's 3rd.  Nimmo hits 1.  Bernie leads 61-59 with 5:35 left.

Heidenwith answers with a 3 to put  Putnam up 62-61.

Corzine answers with a 3 of his own.  Bernie leads 64-62.  4:37 left in game.

Powell hits a 3.  Bernie leads 67-62. Ream answers 67-65.  3:42 left in game.

Landon Wood is fouled after Bernie turnover.  Wood hits 1 of 2.  Bernie leads 67-66.

Wyant picks up his 3rd foul of the game on a charge.

Wood picks up his 1st foul to send Johnson to the line.  He hits both to give Bernie a 69-66 lead with 3 min left.

Bell Game Rivalry joins the GRC

by Jeremy Benson, GrandRiverConference.com It's a mere 12 miles that separate Brookfield High School and Marceline High School, as per Google Maps.  But what's truly remarkable is the 54-year hiatus since these two schools last clashed in a conference football game. Brookfield and Marceline were both in the North Central Missouri Conference (NCMC) in 1970.  In 1970, the NCMC decided to fold.  A new conference with the same name would be organized,  Brookfield remained in a revamped NCMC from 1971 to 1975 before going independent until 1986, when they joined the Tri-Rivers Conference.  They jumped to the Clarence Cannon Conference (CCC) in 2010. Marceline was in the Northern Missouri Conference from 1971 to 1974 before joining the Lewis & Clark Conference in 1975, where they would be members for almost 50 years.
