Rumsey with at 3 to put Huskers up 5-4 and then Golden had a monster block.  

Farmer with a steal and a layup.  6-5 Blue Jays.  5 min left.

Rumsey with a layup.  7-6 Huskers.  4:25 left.

Golden on the assist from Rumsey puts Huskers up 9-6.  3:39 left.

Another bucket by Rumsey. 11-6 Huskers 3:15 left.

Limback with a putback makes it 13-6 Huskers.  They are on an 8-0 run with 2:30 left.

Stanback with a bucket.  He is fouled and hits the FT.  13-9 with 2:20 left.

2nd Quarter

Farmer for 3 to put the Blue Jays on top.  They lead 16-15.

Steal and bucket for Gann-Vega.  Huskers back on top 17-16 with 6 min left.

Higginsville picks up their 7th team foul and Rico Coleman hits 2 to take a 18-17 lead for the Blue Jays with 4:45 left.

Rumsey to Merritt layup puts Huskers back on top 19-18.

Husker steal leads to Merritt layup.  21-18

Patrick Farmer with a bucket and he is fouled with 3:06 left.  He hits free throw to tie it at 21.

Limback with a rebound and bucket to put Huskers back on top 23-21.  2:30 left in 2nd.

Rumsey picks up 2nd foul and Farmer going to the line for Blue Jays. He hits both to tie it at 23 with 2:10 left.

Stanback with a 3 for Blue Jays.  Gann-Vega with a rebound and bucket for Huskers.  Charleston up 26-25 with a little over a minute left.

Farmer drains a 3 and then a steal and a Stanback bucket makes it 31-25, but Gann-Vega answers with a 3 right before the buzzer.

Stanback leads Charleston with 14, Farmer has 13.  Rumsey has 9 for Higginsville, Gann-Vega has 7.

3rd Quarter

Both teams missing some shots early, but Owens scores with a little over a minute elapsed to put Blue Jays up 5.

Golden with a floater to make it 33-30.  After a Charleston miss, Rumsey hits a 3 to tie it at 33 with just over 5 min remaining in 3rd.

Coleman is fouled and misses both, but he converts a layup on next possession.  Golden scores to tie it back up at 35 with 4:25 left.

Limback just picked up his 4th foul for Higginsville.  (Much to the dismay of the Husker crowd).  Farmer hits 1 of 2.  Blue Jays up 1. 4 min left.

Stanback with a fast break bucket off of a miss by Higginsville make sit 38-35.

Huskers return the favor.  Rumsey with the bucket and he is fouled.  FT is no good.  38-37 Blue Jays with 3 min left.

A steal leads to a Gann-Vega bucket.  Another steal leads to a foul by Charleston.  Golden hits 2 FT to put Higginsville up 41-38 with 2:24 left.

Stanback puts back a 3-pt miss to make it 41-40 with 2 min left.

Stanback with another bucket to put Blue Jays on top.  Husker timeout with 1:00 left.  42-41 Charleston.

A steal leads to a Golden foul and a foul.  Golden misses the FT, but Huskers are up 43-42 with 5.6 sec left.

Patrick Farmer, Jr. drains a 3 at the buzzer.  Charleston leads 45-43 at the horn.

4th Quarter

Stanback drains a 3 from the corner.  He puts the Blue Jays up 48-43.

Rumsey fouled.  He hits 1 of 2.  6:45 left and Charleston up 48-44.

Rumsey goes coast to coast after a rebound.  Rico Coleman answers with a bucket and he is fouled.  Coleman misses.  Blue Jays up 50-46 with 6 min left. 

McCoy drains a corner 3.  Huskers cut it to 1 with 5:30 left.

Gann-Vega is fouled and hits 1 to tie the game at 50 with 4:20 left.

Owens picks up his 4th foul on a rebound for Charleston.  McCoy misses front end of 1-1.  Still tied at 50 with 4 min left.

Rico Coleman with a bucket down low.  Husker timeout.  Charleston 52-50 lead with 3:41 left.

A Husker steal leads to a Rumsey basket.  Coleman answers.  54-52 Blue Jays with 2:30 left.

Golden with a bucket with 2:27 left.  He is fouled by Owens.  That is Owens' 5th foul.  Golden misses.  We are tied at 54.

Williams is fouled and shooting 1-1 for Charleston.  He misses.  2 min left and tied.

Farmer with a bucket.  Blue Jays up 56-54.

Gann-Vega is fouled with 1:28 left.  He misses.

Timeout Blue Jays with 1:18 left.

A turnover by Higginsville leads to a Stanback bucket.  Limback with a putback on the other end.  Husker timeout with 36.4 left.  Blue Jays lead 58-56.

Rumsey with a big block on Coleman.  Husker ball down 2 with 16.1 sec left in the game.

Bell Game Rivalry joins the GRC

by Jeremy Benson, GrandRiverConference.com It's a mere 12 miles that separate Brookfield High School and Marceline High School, as per Google Maps.  But what's truly remarkable is the 54-year hiatus since these two schools last clashed in a conference football game. Brookfield and Marceline were both in the North Central Missouri Conference (NCMC) in 1970.  In 1970, the NCMC decided to fold.  A new conference with the same name would be organized,  Brookfield remained in a revamped NCMC from 1971 to 1975 before going independent until 1986, when they joined the Tri-Rivers Conference.  They jumped to the Clarence Cannon Conference (CCC) in 2010. Marceline was in the Northern Missouri Conference from 1971 to 1974 before joining the Lewis & Clark Conference in 1975, where they would be members for almost 50 years.
