26 GRC Boys Wrestlers Qualify for State

Boys Wrestling held their Districts this weekend and 26 wrestlers from the GRC advanced to State including Five that won district.  They will be competing at Mizzou Arena in Columbia on February 22-23.

Trenton finished 3rd in Class 1 District 3 with 121.5 points.  Gallatin finished 10th and Polo finished 12th.

Maysville finished 2nd in Class 1 District 4 with 175 points. South Harrison finished 4th and Albany finished 11th.  Stanberry and North Andrew came in at 14th and 15th, respectively.

Here is a list of all of the GRC wrestlers that advanced to state:

Class 1 District 3

Sam Gibson, Trenton (190 lbs) - He finished 1st with a win over Aidan Ivison of Richmond.

Hunter McAtee, Trenton (144 lbs) - He finished 1st with a win over Draven Wright of Gallatin who also advances to state.

Brayden Hughs, Trenton (138 lbs) - He finished 2nd falling to Rex Bryson of Centralia in the 1st Place Match.

Gabe Parker, Gallatin (285 lbs) - He finished 2nd falling to Seth Hasekamp of Centralia in the 1st Place Match.

Logan Bottcher, Gallatin (175 lbs) - He finished 3rd with a win over Isaiah Myers of Higginsville.

Mason Rongey, Trenton (126 lbs) - He finished 3rd with a win over Frank Ruether of Father Tolton.

Eli Sperry, Gallatin (106 lbs) - He finished 3rd with a win over Luke Lawson of Palmyra.

Gavin Chambers, Trenton (157 lbs) - He finished 4th falling to Eli Henry of North Callaway in the 3rd Place Match.

Class 1 District 4

Cooper Berry, Maysville (120 lbs) - He finished 1st with a win over Dillan Chisam of St. Pius X.

Kaleb Jestes, Maysville (150 lbs) - He finished 1st with a win over Peyson Chandler of West Platte.

Konnor Watkins, Maysville (285 lbs) - He finished 1st with a win Jerrett Eivins of South Harrison who also advances to state.

Brendan Barton, Maysville (157 lbs) - He finished 2nd falling to Jeramiah Smith of Summit Christian Academy in the 1st Place Match.

Draken Bennett, Maysville (138 lbs) - He finished 2nd falling to Marco Dalakishvili of St. Pius X in the 1st Place Match.

Max Heintz, Maysville (190 lbs) - He finished 2nd falling to Ty Ward of St. Pius X in the 1st Place Match.

Kyle Burke, Albany (165 lbs) - He finished 3rd with a win over Payton Vosika of Lawson.

Crae Coffey, South Harrison (215 lbs) - He finished 3rd with a win over Tanner Burch of St. Pius X.

Mayson Edwards, South Harrison (190 lbs) - He finished 3rd with a win over Aaron McClellan of Lone Jack.

Hunter Gilreath, Maysville (126 lbs) - He finished 3rd with a win over Laren Dietz of Lawson.

Jastin Johns, South Harrison (175 lbs) - He finished 3rd with a win over David Brown of West Platte.

Tony Tercero, South Harrison (144 lbs) - He finished 3rd with a win over Zach Griffith of Maysville who also advances to state.

Jerrid Bunten, Albany (157 lbs) - He finished 4th falling to Kota Triplett of Lawson in the 3rd Place Match.

Bryson Jestes, Maysville (132 lbs) - He finished 4th falling to Dalton McNeal of Lawson in the 3rd Place Match.

Dawson Pelletier, South Harrison (113 lbs) - He finished 4th falling to Keegan Wheeler of East Atchison in the 3rd Place Match.

Bell Game Rivalry joins the GRC

by Jeremy Benson, GrandRiverConference.com It's a mere 12 miles that separate Brookfield High School and Marceline High School, as per Google Maps.  But what's truly remarkable is the 54-year hiatus since these two schools last clashed in a conference football game. Brookfield and Marceline were both in the North Central Missouri Conference (NCMC) in 1970.  In 1970, the NCMC decided to fold.  A new conference with the same name would be organized,  Brookfield remained in a revamped NCMC from 1971 to 1975 before going independent until 1986, when they joined the Tri-Rivers Conference.  They jumped to the Clarence Cannon Conference (CCC) in 2010. Marceline was in the Northern Missouri Conference from 1971 to 1974 before joining the Lewis & Clark Conference in 1975, where they would be members for almost 50 years.
