Fun Facts about each of the Matchups in Saturday's GRC Showcase

Girls

1st – King City vs. South Harrison

King City is 5-4 vs. South Harrison since the 2016-17 season

South Harrison won the last meeting 33-18 in the GRC Showcase in 2022 (5th Place teams)

The 2022 game is their only meeting in the GRC Crossover

2nd – North Andrew vs. Polo

Polo defeated North Andrew 48-36 in the 2020 North Platte Tournament in their only meeting since the 2016-17 season

They have not faced each other before in the GRC Crossover

3rd – St. Joseph Christian vs. Princeton

St. Joseph Christian is 3-0 vs. Princeton since the 2016-17 season

St. Joseph Christian defeated Princeton 57-53 earlier this season on January 28 in the Championship Game of the Gilman City Tournament

They have not faced each other before in the GRC Crossover

4th – Pattonsburg vs. Gallatin

Pattonsburg is 4-4 vs. Gallatin since the 2016-17 season

Gallatin defeated Pattonsburg 51-41 earlier this season on November 22 in Gallatin

They have faced each other once in the GRC Crossover.  Pattonsburg defeated Gallatin 58-47 in 2020 (7th Place Teams)

5th – Stanberry vs. Trenton

Trenton is 8-3 vs. Stanberry since the 2016-17 season

Trenton defeated Stanberry 49-46 earlier this season on February 3 in Trenton

They have faced each other four previous times in the GRC Crossover.  The 5th meeting is the most between two opponents in the history of the Crossover.

Trenton defeated Stanberry in the Crossover in 2017, 2018 and 2019 which were all Championship games.  

Stanberry defeated Trenton in the Crossover in 2020 (2nd Place Teams)

6th – Worth County vs. Milan

Worth County is 3-0 vs. Milan since the 2016-17 season

All the previous meetings were in the GRC Crossover

Worth County defeated Milan 68-54 to win the 2020 GRC Championship

Worth County also defeated Milan in the 2018 (4th Place Teams) and 2019 (2nd Place Teams) Crossover games

7th – Albany vs. Putnam County

Albany defeated Putnam County 50-39 in the 2018 GRC Crossover

That game is their only meeting since the 2016-17 season

8th – North Harrison vs. Maysville

Maysville is 2-0 vs. North Harrison since North Harrison joined the GRC

Maysville won the last meeting 26-13 in the GRC Showcase in 2020 (6th Place teams)

The 2022 game is their only meeting in the GRC Crossover

Boys

1st – North Andrew vs. Gallatin

North Andrew is 6-1 vs. Gallatin since the 2016-17 season

North Andrew defeated Gallatin 59-51 in the GRC Showcase in 2022 (2nd Place teams)

They have faced each other twice in the GRC Crossover.  The other time they played, Gallatin defeated North Andrew in the Championship Game 59-51 in 2021

2nd – St. Joseph Christian vs. Milan

Milan is 2-0 vs. St. Joseph Christian since the 2016-17 season

Milan defeated St. Joseph Christian 66-20 earlier this season on February 3 in St. Joseph

They have not faced each other before in the GRC Crossover

3rd – Pattonsburg vs. Maysville

Pattonsburg is 4-2 vs. Maysville since the 2016-17 season

Maysville defeated Pattonsburg 78-42 earlier this season on February 7 in Maysville

They have not faced each other before in the GRC Crossover

4th – Albany vs. Princeton

Princeton is 5-2 vs. Albany since the 2016-17 season

Princeton defeated Albany 75-44 earlier this season on February 7 in Princeton

They have not faced each other before in the GRC Crossover; however, they were supposed to play in 2021 (6th Place Teams), but the game was canceled

5th – Worth County vs. Putnam County

Worth County and Putnam County have not played each other since the 2016-17 season

6th – Stanberry vs. Polo

Stanberry defeated Polo 54-44 in 2017 Districts in their only meeting since 2016-17 season

They have not faced each other before in the GRC Crossover

7th – King City vs. Trenton

King City and Trenton are 1-1 vs. each other since the 2016-17 season

Both of their previous games against each other were in the GRC Crossover.

Trenton defeated King City 64-42 in 2020 (8th Place Teams); King City defeated Princeton 77-75 in 2021 (7th Place Teams)

8th – North Harrison vs. South Harrison

South Harrison is 2-0 vs. North Harrison since North Harrison joined the GRC

South Harrison defeated North Harrison 68-42 earlier this season on January 9 in the South Harrison Tournament

They have not faced each other in the GRC Crossover

Bell Game Rivalry joins the GRC

by Jeremy Benson, GrandRiverConference.com It's a mere 12 miles that separate Brookfield High School and Marceline High School, as per Google Maps.  But what's truly remarkable is the 54-year hiatus since these two schools last clashed in a conference football game. Brookfield and Marceline were both in the North Central Missouri Conference (NCMC) in 1970.  In 1970, the NCMC decided to fold.  A new conference with the same name would be organized,  Brookfield remained in a revamped NCMC from 1971 to 1975 before going independent until 1986, when they joined the Tri-Rivers Conference.  They jumped to the Clarence Cannon Conference (CCC) in 2010. Marceline was in the Northern Missouri Conference from 1971 to 1974 before joining the Lewis & Clark Conference in 1975, where they would be members for almost 50 years.
