Multiple GRC Girls Wrestlers Advance to State

Girls Wrestling held their Districts this weekend and multiple wrestlers from the GRC advanced to State.  They will be competing at Mizzou Arena in Columbia on February 22-23.

Here is a list of all of the GRC wrestlers that advanced to State:

Class 1 District 2

Avery Clark, Trenton (140 lbs) - She finished 3rd with a win over Ayla Castaneda of Marshall.  The win over Castaneda avenged an earlier loss in the quarterfinals in which Castaneda had defeated her.

Class 1 District 4

Valorie Gabrielli, Polo (145 lbs) - She finished 1st with a win over Isabel Foster of Benton.

Jaclyn Riedinger, North Andrew (125 lbs) - She finished 2nd after defeating Molly Stanton of Mid-Buchanan in the semifinals before falling to Emily Bischoff of Odessa in the 1st Place Match.

Keeleigh Fish, Albany (190 lbs) - She finished 3rd with a win over Mesa Welch of Polo.

Abigail Parker, Gallatin (170 lbs)  She finished 3rd with a win over Kenlee Fish of Plattsburg.

Karydon Jones, Gallatin (145 lbs) - She finished 4th falling to Abigail Burnett of Cameron in the 3rd Place Match.

Kenley Moore, Polo (135 lbs) - She finished 4th falling to Elizabeth Hager of Lexington in the 3rd Place Match.

Mesa Welch, Polo (190 lbs) - She finished 4th falling to Keeleigh Fish of Albany in the 3rd Place Match.

Kentli Whitaker, South Harrison (115 lbs) - She finished 4th falling to Ali Gonzalez of Lathrop in the 3rd Place Match.

Bell Game Rivalry joins the GRC

by Jeremy Benson, GrandRiverConference.com It's a mere 12 miles that separate Brookfield High School and Marceline High School, as per Google Maps.  But what's truly remarkable is the 54-year hiatus since these two schools last clashed in a conference football game. Brookfield and Marceline were both in the North Central Missouri Conference (NCMC) in 1970.  In 1970, the NCMC decided to fold.  A new conference with the same name would be organized,  Brookfield remained in a revamped NCMC from 1971 to 1975 before going independent until 1986, when they joined the Tri-Rivers Conference.  They jumped to the Clarence Cannon Conference (CCC) in 2010. Marceline was in the Northern Missouri Conference from 1971 to 1974 before joining the Lewis & Clark Conference in 1975, where they would be members for almost 50 years.
