Brookfield's season ended last season at Monroe City in the District Championship Game. Monroe City defeated Brookfield 62-22. They had all winter, spring, and summer to remember that loss. The Bulldogs got their chance for payback, opening the 2026 season on the same field where they ended 2025.
The first quarter was full of penalties, but no points. However, Brookfield was threatening at the start of the second quarter with the ball on the Panthers' 1-yard line. They couldn't capitalize, and the drive stalled. With Monroe City up against the goal line, Weston Linscott found a Panther in the end zone, taking him down for a safety to go up 2-0 with 10:13 left in the half.
On the next drive for Brookfield, Jordan found the end zone on a 36-yard run, but a holding penalty nullified the run, stalling the Bulldogs' drive. The score was still 2-0 when Brookfield stopped Monroe City on 4th down at the Panthers' 46-yard line. Coldon Parrent busted open a run on the next play to make it 8-0 Brookfield with 51.0 left in the half. The Bulldogs would maintain that lead at the half.
Both teams traded touchdowns in the 3rd. Jordan had a 26-yard run to get his first official touchdown for Brookfield. Tymere White found Da'Viere Holland in the end zone. Holland dove to catch the ball. Brookfield led 14-6 with 4:11 left in the 3rd.
Brookfield put it away with a 10-yard run by Jordan in the 4th to win 20-6.
The Bulldogs were led by Jordan, who had 168 yards rushing on 18 carries with 2 touchdowns. Parent added 158 yards rushing on 20 carries with 1 touchdown.
I caught up with Brookfield coach Cory Luke after the game to talk about the Bulldogs' first win of the season.
Jordan was named the United Country Real Estate GRC Media Player of the Game.
