GRC/GRC West Week 5 Power Poll

Week 5 of high school football has been completed.  Both conferences are in the middle of conference play.

GRC (11-Man)
With nine teams in the conference, every week will feature four conference games and one non-conference game.  All but Gallatin played a conference game this week.  Here are the results for Week 5.

#1 Brookfield 50 #5 Putnam County 14
Brookfield and Putnam County played each other for the first time since 2011, when they were both in the Tri-Rivers Conference.

#2 South Harrison 36 #6 Trenton 28 (OT)
South Harrison defeats Trenton for the first time since 2021.

#8 Polo 10 #3 Milan
Polo defeats Milan for the first time since 2016 and ends a 7-game losing streak against the Wildcats.

#4 Marceline 21 #9 Maysville 13
Marceline and Maysville played each other for the first time since 2018 when Marceline defeated Maysville in the Class 1 District Quarterfinals.

Westran 44 #7 Gallatin 13
Gallatin plays Westran for the first time (since 2007).

The GRC West continues conference play.  Here are the results for Week 5:

Albany defeated North Andrew for the 2nd consecutive year after losing 7 straight.

#2 Worth County 22 #5 St. Joseph Christian 18
Worth County wins their 6th straight over St. Joseph Christian.

#4 King City 50 #7 Pattonsburg 8
King City wins their 5th straight over Pattonsburg.

#6 Princeton 44 #8 Stanberry 42
Stanberry and Princeton split their last two games, and the road team won both.

Bell Game Rivalry joins the GRC

by Jeremy Benson, GrandRiverConference.com It's a mere 12 miles that separate Brookfield High School and Marceline High School, as per Google Maps.  But what's truly remarkable is the 54-year hiatus since these two schools last clashed in a conference football game. Brookfield and Marceline were both in the North Central Missouri Conference (NCMC) in 1970.  In 1970, the NCMC decided to fold.  A new conference with the same name would be organized,  Brookfield remained in a revamped NCMC from 1971 to 1975 before going independent until 1986, when they joined the Tri-Rivers Conference.  They jumped to the Clarence Cannon Conference (CCC) in 2010. Marceline was in the Northern Missouri Conference from 1971 to 1974 before joining the Lewis & Clark Conference in 1975, where they would be members for almost 50 years.
