Students from six Grand River Conference schools attended the 2nd GRC Student Council Meeting held at Polo on March 31. The purpose of this meeting is for students to come together to help build leadership and strong council for their schools.
According to the event organizer, Becky Ross of Polo, "We wanted to spend time together to build relationships within our schools since we are always competing." The event featured Terri Johnson, Executive Director of Missouri Association of Student Councils, who talked about MASC. The students broke out into discussion groups to discuss ideas such as homecoming themes, fundraising, pep rallies and student recognition.
Polo created and also hosted the first ever GRC Student Council Meeting in 2019. Due to COVID, they were unable to meet again until this year. Mrs. Ross said that they are hoping to continue to have it in the future. In addition to Polo, Gallatin, King City, Maysville, North Harrison, and St. Joseph Christian had students in attendance. All 16 GRC schools were invited to the event and are encouraged to attend next year.
