GRC Sectional Notes

Seven GRC teams won District Championships which means that they will be playing in State Sectionals.  Here is the schedule for Sectionals for GRC teams:

Sectional Notes

St. Joseph Christian vs. Platte Valley Girls
St. Joseph Christian (21-6) and Platte Valley (25-1) have not faced each other since Platte Valley started their co-op with Jefferson and South Nodaway.  The last time that St. Joseph Christian face South Nodaway was 12/9/2014 in a 50-28 loss.  The last time they face Jefferson was 1/9/2015 in a 53-23 loss.

St. Joseph Christian (SJCS) and Platte Valley (PV) have faced 8 common opponents:
  • DeKalb - SJCS won by 7 and 20, PV won by 31
  • Nodaway Valley - SJCS won by 9, 3 and 22, PV won by 39
  • North Harrison - SJCS won by 25, PV won by 28
  • North Nodaway - SJCS won by 10, PV won by 41 and 25
  • Princeton - SJCS won by 4, PV won by 25
  • Rock Port - SJCS won by 31, PV won by 37

Stanberry vs. Mound City Boys
Stanberry (22-3) lost to Mound City (25-1) by the score of 72-42 on 11/23/2021.  Stanberry has lost seven straight against Mound City.  Mound City defeated Stanberry 70-55 in last year's sectional round.

Stanberry (Stan) and Mound City (MC) have faced 6 common opponents:
  • Bishop LeBlond - Stan won by 3, MC won by 7
  • DeKalb - Stan won by 30, MC won by 47
  • North Andrew - Stan won by 16, MC won by 25

Milan vs. East Buchanan Girls
Milan (22-6) and East Buchanan (17-11) have not played in recent history.

  • Brookfield - Milan won by 33 and 14, EB won by 18
  • Chillicothe - Milan lost by 10, EB lost by 17

Bell Game Rivalry joins the GRC

by Jeremy Benson, GrandRiverConference.com It's a mere 12 miles that separate Brookfield High School and Marceline High School, as per Google Maps.  But what's truly remarkable is the 54-year hiatus since these two schools last clashed in a conference football game. Brookfield and Marceline were both in the North Central Missouri Conference (NCMC) in 1970.  In 1970, the NCMC decided to fold.  A new conference with the same name would be organized,  Brookfield remained in a revamped NCMC from 1971 to 1975 before going independent until 1986, when they joined the Tri-Rivers Conference.  They jumped to the Clarence Cannon Conference (CCC) in 2010. Marceline was in the Northern Missouri Conference from 1971 to 1974 before joining the Lewis & Clark Conference in 1975, where they would be members for almost 50 years.
