12 Courts of Christmas - Milan vs. Mid-Buchanan (Girls)

Milan Girls are playing Mid-Buchanan at 12 Courts of Christmas at Hy-Vee Arena today.  They come into this game with a record of 7-2.

Cady Pauley leads the Lady Cats with 32.8 points per game.  She surpassed the 2,400 point mark during the last game vs. Chillicothe.  

Milan and Mid-Buchanan do not show any prior matchups on MSHSAA (which goes back about 15 years).

1st Quarter
Milan wins the tip.  After a couple of possessions and clock problems, Cady Pauley with a steal and a bucket.  She misses the free throw.  Milan up 2-0 with 7:00 left.

So far a defensive battle.  Mid-Buch with a couple of turnovers and a missed shot.  Milan has missed 4 shots so far.  Mid-Buch ties it at 2 with 5:20 left.

Mid Buch with a little 3-0 run to go up 5-2 with 4:26 left.

Mid Buch extends the run to 5 before Cady hits a jumper. 7-4 Mid Buch with 3:30 left.

Milan forces a turnover.  Cady takes it coast to coast.  After a Mid Buch turnover, Avery Pickering with a bucket.  2:30 left.  Milan up 8-7.

Mid Buch is fouled and hits 1 of 2.  It is tied at 8 with 2:17 left.

Mid Buch with a layup and Milan calls a timeout.  Mid Buch up 10-8 with 1:37 left.

Mid Buch extends run to 5-0 before Cady is fouled.  Cady hits 1 of 2.  Mid Buch up 12-9 with 47.4 left.

Emma Whitlock with a bucket on the assist from Cady to close the scoring at the end of the quarter.  Mid Buch leads 12-11.

2nd Quarter
Cady gets a steal on the defensive end and turns it into a bucket on the other side.  7:00 left.  Milan up 13-12.

Auburn Cole with a bucket for the Lady Cats.  15-12 Milan with 6:30 left.

Cady with a drive and a bucket.  Mid Buch answers.  17-14 Milan.  5:49 left.

Gracie Dickson finishes with a layup on a fast break.  Lady Cats are very active in the line defensively and giving Mid Buch problems.  19-14 Milan with 5:00 left.

Mid Buch is fouled and hits 1 free throw.  19-15 Milan with 4:30 left.

Cady is fouled and hits 2 free throws.  21-15 Milan with 3:20 left.

Mid Buch with a layup, but Cady answers with a bucket and a foul.  She hits the free throw. 24-17 Milan with 2:59 left.

Emma Whitlock with a bucket on a no-look from Cady.  26-19 Milan with 1:40 left.

Cady with a 3 from the corner puts the Lady Cats up 10. She then hits a step back to make it 31-19.  50 seconds left.

Cady blocks a shot and then gets fouled on the rebound.  She hits both.  Now 33-19 with 30 sec left.

Milan goes into the half up 33-19.

Cady with 16 in the 2nd Quarter.

3rd Quarter
Milan with the ball to start the 3rd.  Cady continues her scoring with a bucket in the lane. 35-19.

Cady with a step back 3.  38-19 with 7:00 left.

Mid Buch with 2 free throws to get on the board in the 2nd half.  Cady answers with a bucket.  40-21 Milan with 4:30 left.

Cady with a 3 in transition.  Milan up 43-21 with 3:25 left.

Mid Buch with a steal and a bucket.  43-23 with 2:30 left.

Mid Buch adds a 3 to make it 43-26, but Cady goes coast to coast. 45-26 Milan.  51 sec left.

Emma Whitlock ends the scoring with the assist from Cady.  After 3, Milan leads 47-26.

4th Quarter
Mid Buch opens the scoring with a bucket.  6:57 left.  47-28 Milan.

Lady Cats a little sluggish here in the 4th.  They have a few turnovers and Mid Buch hits another bucket.  47-30 with 5:30 left.

Mid Buch with another bucket to cut it to 15 with 4:20 left.

Emerson Pauley ends scoring drought with a 3.  50-32 with 3:44 left.

Mid Buch hits a free throw to make it 50-33.  3:44 left in game.

Mid Buch with a put-back, but Auburn Cole with an answer.  52-35 2:46 left.

Avery Pickering with a bucket.  54-35 with 1:35 left.

Cady with another bucket to make it 56-35 with 57 sec left.

Milan puts in the subs.

Mid Buch with a bucket to close the scoring.  Final Score Milan 56 Mid Buchanan 37.

Bell Game Rivalry joins the GRC

by Jeremy Benson, GrandRiverConference.com It's a mere 12 miles that separate Brookfield High School and Marceline High School, as per Google Maps.  But what's truly remarkable is the 54-year hiatus since these two schools last clashed in a conference football game. Brookfield and Marceline were both in the North Central Missouri Conference (NCMC) in 1970.  In 1970, the NCMC decided to fold.  A new conference with the same name would be organized,  Brookfield remained in a revamped NCMC from 1971 to 1975 before going independent until 1986, when they joined the Tri-Rivers Conference.  They jumped to the Clarence Cannon Conference (CCC) in 2010. Marceline was in the Northern Missouri Conference from 1971 to 1974 before joining the Lewis & Clark Conference in 1975, where they would be members for almost 50 years.
