Brookfield Girls Wrestling wins District, Five GRC Girls win Individual Districts

Brookfield won the Class 1 District 2 Girls Wrestling District at St. Charles West today.  The GRC crowned five individual district champions in Districts 2 and 4.  A total of 17 GRC and GRC West athletes qualified for state.

Class 1 District 2

Brookfield won the Class 1 District 2 Girls Wrestling Championship.  Brookfield also qualified five for state, with three winning district titles.  Trenton also had one qualifier.

Karydon Jones of Gallatin and Claire Barton of Maysville captured district titles in Girls Wrestling at the Class 1 District 4 tournament at Kearney.  A total of 6 GRC and 5 GRC West wrestlers qualified for state there.

by Jeremy Benson, GrandRiverConference.com It's a mere 12 miles that separate Brookfield High School and Marceline High School, as per Google Maps.  But what's truly remarkable is the 54-year hiatus since these two schools last clashed in a conference football game. Brookfield and Marceline were both in the North Central Missouri Conference (NCMC) in 1970.  In 1970, the NCMC decided to fold.  A new conference with the same name would be organized,  Brookfield remained in a revamped NCMC from 1971 to 1975 before going independent until 1986, when they joined the Tri-Rivers Conference.  They jumped to the Clarence Cannon Conference (CCC) in 2010. Marceline was in the Northern Missouri Conference from 1971 to 1974 before joining the Lewis & Clark Conference in 1975, where they would be members for almost 50 years. GRC Boys Basketball 2024-25 Season Preview

by Jeremy Benson, GrandRiverConference.com Sponsored by Maysville received six first-place votes and is the coaches' pick to repeat as GRC Boys Basketball Champions for the 2024-25 season. Defending champion Putnam County received two first-place votes and was picked second. Gallatin was picked third by the coaches. Maysville Maysville had one of its best seasons in school history last year. They finished 25-2 overall and 5-1 in the GRC. They also won the District Championship and the Gallatin and King City tournaments. This year, Todd Mercer takes over the reins. The Wolverines would like to build on the success from last season.
