Gilman City Tournament - Boys First Round - Princeton vs. East Harrison

Princeton Tigers take on the East Harrison Bobcats in the first round of the Gilman City Tournament.

Starters for Princeton are

  • #33 Talan Holt
1st Quarter

Finney starts off the scoring for Princeton.  Holt then steals the ball, but misses a dunk.  Tigers up 2-0 with 7:30 left.

Booth answers with a 3 for East Harrison.  They lead 3-2 with 7:00 left.

Holt back on the other end with a bucket.  4-3 Princeton with 6:30 left.

Clay Evans with a 3 pointer to make it 7-3 Tigers.  6:00 left.

Evans with another 3.  10-3 Tigers

Willet fouls Roberts for the Bobcats.  He hits 1 of 2 10-4 Tigers with 5:36 left.

Holt comes back with a long 3. Tigers up 13-6 with 5:19 left.

Thomas with a steal and a bucket.  Bobcats call a timeout with Tigers leading 15-4.  4:45 left in the 1st.

Thomas with another steal. This time he is fouled.  He is shooting two with 4:16 left.  He hits both to make it 17-4.

Holt with a bucket makes it 19-4 with 3:15 left.

Holt with another bucket at 1:15 to make it 21-4.

Evans is fouled with 53.1 left.  He is shooting two.  He hits two to make it 23-4.

Thomas hits a runner to make it 25-4 with 20 sec left.

Princeton is up 25-4 after the 1st quarter.

2nd Quarter

Pressure defense by Princeton causes an early timeout by the Bobcats.  7:39 left with Princeton still up 25-4.

Finney with a bucket to make it 27-4.  7:00 left in 2nd.

Holt with an up and under move to make it 29-4.  He then feeds Finney on the next possession to make it 31-4.  5:21 left.

Coffman gets his first bucket.  5:00 left with Tigers leading 33-4.

Evans with another 3 to make it 36-4 and then Holt adds a bucket in the lane.  Corum scores for Bobcats after getting a loose ball.  Evans answers for the Tigers.  40-6 with 3:30 left in the 2nd.

John Schreffler with a bucket.  Ratliff with a 3 for Bobcats.  Finney answers on the other end.  44-9 Tigers with 1:25 left

Holt with another bucket.  46-9 with a minute left in the half.

Another long 3 for Holt. 49-9 with 20 sec left.

Half ends with Princeton up 49-9

3rd Quarter

Holt with a bucket.  Bobcats call a timeout with 7:05 left.  Tigers lead 51-9

Baker answers for East Harrison to make it 51-11.  McFall with a putback makes it two straight buckets for the Bobcats.  51-13 with 5:30 left.

Corum makes it 6-0 run for East Harrison with 5:00 left.

After a foul Evans hits 1 of 2 FT to make it 52-15.

Evans is fouled again with 4:00 left.  He hits both.  Now 54-15.

Baker with a bucket.  He is fouled with 3:34 left.  FT is good to make it 54-18.

Corum with a bucket for the Bobcats.  It is 54-20 with 2:30 left.

Holt with a bucket in the lane.  56-20 with 1:30 left.

Coffman adds a bucket with a minute left to make it 58-20.

Holt drains a three as the buzzer sounds.  Princeton leads 61-20 after three.

4th Quarter

Holt starts the scoring to make it 63-20.  Coffman with a bucket to add to the lead.  65-20 with 7:00 left.

Finney gets in on the action with a bucket in the lane.  Holt then dunks it to make it 69-20 with 6:15 left.

Clay Evans with a bucket with 5:45 left to make it 71-20.

McFall stops the run for the Bobcats.  71-22 with 5:00 left.

Boxley with a fast break bucket gets 2 more for the Tigers.  73-22 with 4:00 left.

John Schreffler with a fast break bucket of his own. 75-22 with 3:00 left.

Ratliff hits a 3 from the top of the key for the Bobcats.  75-25 with 2:00 left.

Princeton wins 75-25.

Bell Game Rivalry joins the GRC

by Jeremy Benson, GrandRiverConference.com It's a mere 12 miles that separate Brookfield High School and Marceline High School, as per Google Maps.  But what's truly remarkable is the 54-year hiatus since these two schools last clashed in a conference football game. Brookfield and Marceline were both in the North Central Missouri Conference (NCMC) in 1970.  In 1970, the NCMC decided to fold.  A new conference with the same name would be organized,  Brookfield remained in a revamped NCMC from 1971 to 1975 before going independent until 1986, when they joined the Tri-Rivers Conference.  They jumped to the Clarence Cannon Conference (CCC) in 2010. Marceline was in the Northern Missouri Conference from 1971 to 1974 before joining the Lewis & Clark Conference in 1975, where they would be members for almost 50 years.
